With looking into Sierra’s past I learnt that they were responsible for some of the break-through, as well as releasing some great titles such as the king’s quest series.Īfter viewing the documentary ‘First Person Shooter’, the report was purely opinion based, therefore the only thing I learnt is what other people’s opinions are on the subject as well as a chance to express my own. Looking into not only Roberta Williams’s history of being a game designer but also learnt about the rise and fall of Sierra. After learning of its creator, I found out that the person who made it also is responsible for starting up the old gaming company ‘Sierra’. It wasn’t just Battle sequences which I learnt from this chapter as after receiving the blog list I read through them on a weekly bases where I could learn other game mechanics which other students researched for themselves ranging from other RPG elements to Shooters.ĭuring this part I choose to look at the creator of the only computer game to scare me to date, which is called ‘ Phantasgoria’. With many similarities to old school 2D beat ‘em ups I learn that where it must of come from, as they are basically the same just with a different genre with their oblivious differences. On searching I found an RPG series called ‘Tales of Phantasia which I decided to test out for myself to see what the 2D Real Time Battles were like. Still looking at the Battle System in RPG’s I went on to anther Square Enix game, Star Ocean 3 (which also happens to be one of my favourites) where I explored Real-Time Battles and where they originated from. Being also a fan of Square Enix with their ‘ Final Fantasy’ Series I decided to look into their Job change system featured in 3 of the final fantasy games ( Final Fantasy V, X-2 and X1).īy digging into the whole battle system featured within the games, I learnt a lot about where the real-time battle system originated from, and also when the first game that featured character jobs (or character classes was first introduced) mostly a surprise when I found out it came from an 80’s Dungeon and Dragons Game. With a huge collection of games in my collection I choose to look into some of the key aspects of the genre, mainly with the all famous battle system used in most RPG’s. Most people that know me would know that my favourite genre in computer games is Role Playing Games or RPG for short. Within all of the above topics I used the time effectively to not only learnt new aspects of Video gaming but also to expand my own knowledge as well as look into areas which I already had an interest in.
